02/13/11 0 CommentsNew Life, Chapter 2
I have to say hi to all my friends (everyone). it's been a pathetic amount of time since I was on here last. 2010 was fun, difficult, exciting, tough, rewarding, etc. but no worries - it's just life! I did buy a new guitar one week after the Nashville flood - another part of the dream falls into place. However, taking the good with the bad, our class lost a great friend & inspiration in that flood. He was an incredible aspiring musician and it hit everyone hard. The SAE Institute on music row decided to form the "Dan Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund" in his honor. He will be missed.
I graduated with honors last September at the top of my class - WOOHOO!! I did not expect that but working my tail off was worth it. At that point, I decided to start my own business as an Audio Engineer & Graphic Designer. I'm also a member of The Recording Academy and Indie Connect. I love working with indie artists/songwriters and I do my part to help them reach their dreams. I've met so many fantastic people in Nashville and my circle of friends keeps growing. I'm co-writing some country songs with an indie friend. Lyrics can be tough but inspiration is there when you least expect it - sometimes at 2:00 am! One of my best friends is a new indie artist - Miss Suzi Oravec. Suzi is one of the most gifted artists/songwriters I've ever heard and who is her biggest country inspiration? You guessed it - Carrie!! She is about to release her debut album so please check out her myspace & facebook pages and her website at www.suzioravec.com.
Speaking of Carrie, I couldn't miss her Oct. 13 concert at Bridgestone Arena. Carrie did the longest set I've ever seen her do and her shows just keep getting better. How is that possible when she's already the best there is?! I had the best seat in the house when her "Carrie Blue" truck stopped ten feet over my head! Every show is always like the first one again! I can imagine how humbled Carrie must feel knowing she's changed thousands of lives with her heart and her artistry.
Blink, squint, yawn - ok, now I gotta get some zzzs. When more cool stuff happens, I'll let y'all know!
God Bless, Ted

03/25/10 0 CommentsAHHHH! I love Nashville!!
I finally started school 1/11 and I'm loving it. Audio Engineering is a lot of work but it's so much fun you can't call it school. Classes are challenging and the recording projects are way fun. Nothing is perfect and it has been tough. I'm paying my dues just like everyone who comes to Nashville. It's hard to find a job and I'm almost flat broke but I don't worry because I'm doing something I love. I'm going to relearn guitar & keyboard which will help with the songwriting I started last year. Who knows where this will go? I'm walking this road completely on faith and I've never been happier. I know anything is possible so the key to all this is continuous optimism. "Don't give up NO MATTER WHAT". All I can say is NASHVILLE ROCKS!!

12/07/09 1 CommentWhat's new with me?
Yeah, I need to write this for all my friends here who thought I dropped off the Earth - felt like I did for a while. From my last post, some know I haven't worked since last December. After almost a year of research, planning, and getting my rear in gear, I'm starting over & on my way. The house is on the market and I'm living light for a while. I'm leaving dead Ohio for Nashville Tuesday 12/15 to attend the SAE Insitute in January for sound engineering. I should have done this the first time around but life went another way. No matter, life only has forward so why not do something you love? I've been there three times this year for business & fun and it was worth every second.
A friend in Nashville is a singer/songwriter and he has suggested working on a gig with him! I would love to do that but I'm not counting on it. He found out I wrote a few songs and cut a demo for fun in August of some of my favorite cover songs. I just do the best I can but I was so surprised by what he said. It's very encouraging even though I never planned to do anything like that. Anything can happen in "The City of Hope". Who knows? Whatever I do, I'm quite enthusiastic about the future.
Hope that's not too boring but I don't like being out of touch with everyone for so long. I'll ask for your prayers on all this.
God Speed & God Bless y'all, Ted

Yeah, I know it's been forever since I blogged. I'll throw a dirty word at ya - ECONOMY. Like millions of other Americans, I've been out of work since the December crash. With manufacturing down everywhere, Ohio was hit really hard. It's just dead here. Instead of worrying, I choose to use this as an opportunity to step way outside the box and do alternative career research. It's true - with this wild ride we're on called life, you never know where it will take you next. Anyone is welcome to join me with their private thoughts as I send out my prayers to all those who find themselves in a similar situation.
On a bright note, life doesn't stop just because circumstances are not perfect. So many good things happen every day that we shoudn't miss. YES, I am going to the party no matter what! I definitely need a change and I'm totally looking forward to seeing Carrie and everyone else. The trick is keep looking up and things will change. Faith brought me here.
See y'all in June, Ted

About Ted
About me? Ok - I'm outgoing, fearless, and adventurous. I have many interests and passions first of these is music. Duh, now who'd guess that? I've been singing most of my life but I humbly say my voice would never sell albums. I started in kids choir at church then moved on to soft & hard rock, pop, Christian contemporary, and of course, country. I got hooked on the country/western scene when I lived in Houston for five years. My music collection is huge and keeps getting bigger!
I love the outdoors - you can't keep me inside on a warm summer day.
Being the lead foot I am, I also like drag racing and restoring the old classics - always will. Photos later when I find them.
Of course, with her angelic voice, Carrie is the most gifted, beautiful, and genuine person I've ever known. Yeah, I admit it - I would love to know her better. Hey country girl, my hat's off to you.
Latest update: I'm now living in Nashville following a dream I used to think was impossible. I'm studying Audio Engineering, relearning guitar & keyboard, and working on songwriting - trying to improve as I go. I'm also keeping my voice in shape. I'm flat broke but I'm happier than I've ever been. Yeah, I love it here.
I love talking to everybody. So stop by and say hi.
Ted
